\n<\/b>Three one-hour Workshops on Zoom<\/span>
\n<\/span>This is a basic introductory level to chord patterns (progressions) and how they work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Session one: <\/span>\u00a0We will answer the question \u201c<\/span>Why do they refer to the chords by numbers?<\/span><\/i>\u201d as in a 1-4-5. \u00a0 And then to make matters even more confusing –\u00a0 \u201c<\/span>Why do they sometimes refer to notes as numbers<\/span><\/i>?\u201d\u00a0 as in \u201cThe 3rd or The 9th\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

If I can give you all a good understanding of those two questions in the first session – we will have really got somewhere.\u00a0 It\u2019s a bit of a tangle to explain it, so I will have it spelled out as clearly as I can on paper for you to see as we go through it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Session two:<\/span>\u00a0 Now that we understand how the numbers work – we will look at the different combinations of chord patterns or progressions.\u00a0 This is the basic foundation of how all songs are created.\u00a0 All melodies and words ride on top of \u201cchord progressions\u201d.\u00a0 So understanding them will really help you understand the songs you are playing in a whole new way.<\/span><\/p>\n

Session three: \u00a0 <\/span>We will analyze songs from our hopeful jammers book together so we can put all our new knowledge to work.\u00a0 Plus we will have some listening tests to see if we can identify the chord progressions just by hearing them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
