A Collective Celebration of Cole Porter

Four artists gather to celebrate the genius of Cole Porter at the beautiful Crescent Arts Centre.

When?  Friday, April 12th, 2024 –  7:00-9:00pm.   At the Crescent Arts Centre (525 Wardlaw) $20 at the door.

Amber Epp

“Cole Porter songs are so fun! You can tell he enjoyed twisting around the norms of songwriting in his day – and jazz musicians continue the tradition when interpreting his songs today.”

Zachary Rushing

“Cole Porter is perhaps the most sophisticated and deeply witty of the Great American Songbook composers, and his songs are absolutely the most fun to sing. Porter had a classical composer’s sense for melody and harmony, a deeply piercing and often tongue-in-cheek sense for lyric writing, and a worldly point of view that set his songs head and shoulders above his counterparts. Simply put – he’s the TOP!”

Annie Avery

“The more I dig into Cole Porter, the more admiration I have for his genius to meld lyrics with melody, harmony, and form.  The uniqueness of the lyrics alone is impressive. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall in his studio. I am challenged to do justice to this fantastic writing.”

Grant Simpson

“I fell in love with the way that Cole Porter defies musical norms and conventions and has SO MUCH FUN doing it.  I have been studying and playing his songs for over four decades now – and he continues to amuse, amaze and inspire me.  Just ask my son – Cole.”

With such a musically diverse collective of artists, this is bound to be a wonderfully magical evening of wit, charm, humor and excruciating love.
