January 2010

Well, I’m getting up for a week of wonderful jazz with my friend and musical colleague Don Ogilvie. Don is a Gypsy Jazz Guitar Virtuoso, an inspiring teacher and wonderful guy.

It’ll be a week made possible by volunteers like myself and Erica Heyligers and Pete and Mary and many others. The project is a MusicYukon Initiative and is one of many things MusicYukon is doing to inject inspiring opportunities for Yukon musicians and the community at large.

The week Don will be here is also the week that Django would have turned 100 and so is great timing to do all this (which ended up being a bit of a fluke).

Monday to Thursday are Gypsy Jazz Workshops with Don. He’ll be doing several private lessons on top of it and the two of us will team up for two gigs at the end of the week. The posters below tell the story and I hope that any of you who want to hear Gypsy Jazz and Swing will join us at one of the gigs.
