I am honored to be considered a vaudevillian. One who works in vaudeville.
Somewhere in my teens I read a biography on Fats Waller and it talked about all his days in Vaudeville. My parents took me to performances by Rolf Harris, Andy Stewart and other entertainers who combined great creativity with entertaining people. I loved to laugh and loved to make my family laugh.
In talking to my father about my dream of one day working in Vaudeville - he made the observation that I was apparently a stupid ass - since Vaudeville was long since dead. Forward a few years when I was just starting to make a living making my own music. The phone rings and it's from Whitehorse Yukon where I am being asked if I'd like to come up and perform in a Vaudeville show. I said "yes" and have never left.
It is simply my dream job. I'm now a partner with my best friend, the founder of the show and the person who offered me the job in 1980.
